YOGA & KIRTAN…LIVE!
with Jim Beckwith & Calia Marshall
Jim Beckwith and Calia Marshall create musical magic together. Both practitioners of Bhakti yoga, the path of love and devotion, their music will draw you closer to your heart and your connection with the Divine. The weaving of their sweet voices, Jim’s instrumental tapestry of everything from Indian sitar to flute to guitar, and Calia’s support with harmonium and ukulele, creates an energy that is both vibrant and soothing. They lead kirtan, teach workshops on chanting and freeing your voice, and support yoga classes with live music. Please contact them by emailing jim@livemusicforyoga.com and caliamarshall@gmail.com.

Jim Beckwith (Hanuman Das) is an accomplished musician, songwriter and teacher. His love of music and yoga inspired him to focus on bringing live music to yoga classes. Jim”s music is soulful and evocative of healing and inner awakening. He mixes mantra chants and English lyrics with a melodic and accessible tapestry of sound, exotic instrumentation and undulating rhythms. A compelling lyricist with a voice that soars from high to low with the greatest of ease, Jim is a devoted yogi and musician who focuses on Bhakti – the great yoga of the heart.

Jim has played with many of the world”s top teachers; (Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, Saul David Raye, Desiree Rumbaugh, Amy Ippoliti, John Friend, Sianna Sherman, Janet Stone, Kia Miller, Tommy Rosen, Dana Flynn and Jasmine Tarkeshi, among others). He has shared the stage with with many great kirtan artists such as Jai Uttal, Bhagavan Das, Govind Das & Radha, Brenda McMorrow, C.C. White, David Newman, Kirtaniyas, Aykanna, Shantala & Saul David Raye. http://livemusicforyoga.com/

Calia Marshall is a kirtan artist, yoga teacher, dancer, and educator. She is part of the trio Kirtan Soul Revival (KSR), New York City’s funkiest devotional mantra music experience. They use traditional Sanskrit mantras, original music, spirituals and music from around the world to create a unique, dynamic sound that merges funk, rock, rhythm and blues, world grooves, chants and lush three-part harmonies. They have played all around the country and at festivals such as BhaktiFest, VerMantra and Berwick Yoga Festival in Nova Scotia. Calia has been teaching yoga since 2002 and is mainly influenced by her trainings with Dana Flynn and Jasmine Tarkeshi from Laughing Lotus and Saul David Raye of Ritam Healing Arts. Her classes combine flowing asana, full breath, stories and poems, exploration, partner yoga and chanting. Since 2000 Calia has been a professional dancer and has taught dance to children and adults in NYC and around the world. www.caliamarshall.comhttp://kirtansoulrevival.com/
